73 looks to remember

The time has come again for Italian Fashion Designers big and small to battle for the title of best fashion week collection. Milan welcomed the best of the best to this year's Spring/Summer 2024 exhibition. Among the standouts were Gucci, Tom Ford, Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Jill Sanders, BlueMarine, and Versace. But, one designer rose above the rest, and blew the show out of the water. Glenn Martin’s SS24 Diesel collection was legendary.
Deconstructed and reimagined, Diesel’s latest array of garments pushes the boundaries for modern streetwear. Denim has been stagnant for some time now in terms of modernization. Diesel continues to reinvent the ways that denim can be worn. Graphic prints, luxuriously detailed hardware, advanced textures, and futuristic shapes are all just some of the ways that denim has been broadcasted by Glenn Martins.
This was no small-scale show. Seventy three head-to-toe Glenn Martins masterpieces strutted down the runway with swag. A luxurious red carpet was hosted by an enormous digital flatscreen set which displayed close-up views of the garment details and a birds’ eye view of the runway. Beaming lights flashed upon the dozens of models that seemed to flood out onto the runway. The crowd was filled to the brim with Diesel lovers from far and wide. Strange and unusual beats and sounds blared over the speakers, creating an extremely fast-paced, excitedly anxious feeling, like something extraordinary was happening. Halfway through the show, rain started pouring over the runway, over the models, and over the entire crowd, but Glenn Martins’ looks just kept on coming.
Out of the seventy three Diesel looks that were broadcasted that night in Milan, there were at least six different sub-genres of aesthetics incorporated into the show. Glenn Martins displayed an incredible measure of versatility in this collection with each sub-style, but the entirety of this collection was intertwined to perfection. As the finale began, all seventy three looks marched down the narrow red carpet in a single file line. The dedication and attention to detail is evident throughout these one of a kind garments by Glenn Martin. The team behind this runway is one to be studied.
I believe that the production of the Diesel SS24 show is the key factor in taking the cake this Milan fashion week. From the endless looks, detailed to perfection, to the innovative legacy that Glenn Martin created, to its obvious large-scale nature, and to the dedication, even in the pouring rain, this show will go down in history as Diesel’s Greatest of All Time.
